Let's take it back to the start

Today, I'm taking it back to the start of White Hot. I’ll set the scene. Newly dye-free, I was on the hunt for fantastic, luxurious products specifically for my silvery white hair that not only felt wonderful to use, but really worked and stood for celebration, choice and liberation. (Spoiler: I couldn’t find them).

I dyed my hair for over 30 years and with the help of my supportive pro-grey hairdresser, I had made the decision to stop colouring my hair. I realised my 4 weekly dye routine wasn’t making me happy. It was more a chore than a treat.

Also, I realised how many negative narratives of grey haired women (in particular) had trickled into my mind.

Letting yourself go, giving up, looking ancient, crumbling…and I had had enough.

With my decision to embrace my natural colour, I not only ditched the dye, but the negativity too. When I couldn’t find the dream products I wanted, I decided to take the plunge and create my own. White Hot was born. A range of 7 (soon to be 8...) wonderful products specifically for the needs and wants of white and grey hair. Stopping the dye routine, doesn’t mean stopping the haircare. In fact, quite the opposite.

Almost 10 years later, we have the most vibrant community of loyal customers and we’re growing by the day.

At White Hot, we believe in choice. Being yourself, whatever that looks like for you. Dye or no dye. We champion the freedom in removing expectations and ‘shoulds’.

For me, stopping colouring your hair doesn’t mean you have let yourself go, just let yourself free! Ultimately, the feeling grows much deeper than what’s growing out of your head.
