Let's talk texture

At White Hot, we think your best grey comes from knowing why it behaves and feels different to dyed hair and finding products that provide the best care. Also, discovering how your hair in particular has changed, and adapting your routine to suit its new needs. So, why does hair without dye feel different? Texture, thickness, colour, it can feel completely unlike your hair before.

Of COARSE

We often say that grey hair can feel coarser and wirier. That isn’t always the case and it doesn’t mean it actually is more coarse. In fact, it all depends on when you stop dyeing your hair. Often, we stop dyeing our hair at a time in our lives where our sebaceous glands (which are attached to each hair follicle) stop producing as much oil, resulting in hair that feels frizzier, wilder and drier.

This is why hydration is more important than ever and regardless of how long or thick your hair is, Luminous Conditioner and Intense Lustre Mask are total essentials.

It’s FINE

Some say that after dyeing, their hair feels thicker, due to less chemical damage and more focus on healthy routines and nourishment. However, as we age our hair can become more fine, despite it feeling more coarse. (It’s a complicated one). There are creative (and lightweight) ways to boost body, bounce and volume, depending on the thickness of your hair.

Our Infinity Mousse is light as a feather and works to bring bounce to even the finest of hair. If you’re after something a bit heftier, Shooshing Crème has a medium-strong hold for instant oomph.

Oh YES!

It’s not all doom and gloom. This doesn’t mean that you can’t have silky soft hair, or hair that feels voluminous. In fact, with hair that feels a little coarser, styles can often last longer and we may naturally have more body at the root, two great positives. It’s just key to tailor your routine around your new needs.

This starts with discovering the whys (tick!) and how to care for your dye-free hair. With the right range of products…anything is possible. And of course, we’re all about celebrating the hair we have and not always wishing for greener (or greyer or thicker) grass, after all.

Anything we can do to help, reach out on Facebook or Instagram or send a note to customercare@whitehothair.co.uk and we’ll get back to you. Keep sending your glorious grey selfies too, we’d love to hear from you!
