Nicola's journey to becoming a successful model

Nicola's journey to becoming a successful model

As we launch our new model competition, find out more about how our gorgeous model Nicola Griffin forged a new career after we spotted her in the street. Back in 2014 when White Hot was in its infancy, we were looking to find some local women with grey and white hair to come to our ‘community shoot’. Jayne’s hairdresser was queuing at a bank in Nottingham behind a woman with the most lustrous grey and white hair, and knowing what we were planning, she felt compelled to tap her on the shoulder. A few phone calls and emails later and Nicola - and her friend (for moral support) came along to our shoot. While these particular shots were a low-key affair based around having a fun day with some like-minded people and getting some images for our burgeoning Facebook community, we loved Nicola’s look so much that when we decided to reinvent our brand photography later that year, we asked her to be one of our four models. As a result of that shoot, Nicola decided she would like to branch out into more modelling and has since gone strength to strength, helping her forge a whole new career. We’ve seen her modelling lingerie for the likes of JD Williams and SLiNK magazine, being the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Russia and of course, famously, she was the oldest woman to be featured in a bikini in Sports Illustrated magazine, as a result of a campaign for Swimsuits For All. Nicola Bazaar Front Page Nicola’s story proved to us that it’s never too late to create yourself a whole new career or at the very least, try something new. So, as we start to look at refreshing our brand imagery, we wondered if there are more of you out there with gorgeous grey and white hair, who might like to try your hand at modelling. If so, enter our competition now: we’re looking for all shades and styles of white and grey on women of any age. So whether you’re 33 or 93, have hair that’s Perfect Pewter or Wintery White and whether you wear it long, mid-length, bobbed or cropped - we want to hear from you.

The competition closes on Sunday 8th October, so enter now.
