Article: Ditch the dye for a brighter new you

Ditch the dye for a brighter new you

We know that taking the plunge and embracing your natural grey hair can be a daunting prospect for a lot of women. Whether you’re going through the transition into embracing your natural grey like the beautiful soul singer Erykah Badu, aged 44 (pictured above) or whether you know a friend who is in the transition phase, then here a few of our top tips to keep in mind:
  • First and foremost, find a hairdresser you trust. Talk to your hairdresser about the process and how best to approach it - they know your hair better than anyone.
  • Try and think of it as the times when you experimented with different hair colours. Embracing your natural grey can be like the times in the past when you dyed your hair new hair colours and loved it – grey is simply another colour choice!
  • You don’t have to go ‘cold turkey’ – there’s a lot you can do to make the change a gradual one, for example, chunky lighter highlights
  • Grey hair is NOT about letting go – you need to plan in a trip to the hairdresser every five weeks to keep your hair looking in top condition. A cut can also really enhance your colour, so why not think about a neat cut or embracing a new style – a bob always looks fabulous!
White Hot Founder Jayne knows that transitioning to grey might feel daunting for many people, but her experience was that it was actually hugely liberating: “Once you’ve changed what’s in your head, it’s not difficult to change what’s on your head. People used to associate going grey with letting go, but I’ve actually found it liberating to stop 'clinging on' to the vestiges of youth. No more worrying about roots, no need for constant trips to the hairdresser – and it’s exciting to see what colour you actually are under all that dye.” During the transition phase, we’d recommend using Glorious Shampoo as it contains a detoxing complex to neutralise shine-dulling pollutants, it will really enhance what you’ve already got and will give your hair a shine-giving cleanse. And as it contains a luxurious touch of White Truffle, which is known for its moisturising properties, your hair will feel gorgeously smooth. Then follow by using rich and creamy Luminous Conditioner to nourish and moisturise your grey, making it look and feel its very best.
