Jayne's Autumn Silver Style

Jayne's Autumn Silver Style

Summer has well and truly left the building. Although I love living in sandals for a few months of the year, I for one look forward to chunky knits and equally chunky boots as the weather gets colder. Autumn style goes wild for camel shades, burnt oranges, browns, beiges...however this can sometimes be tricky to pair with silver hair.

This isn’t always the case, as we have recently been getting style inspiration from Marian Moneymaker (@marianmoneymaker) and Kate Lonsdale (@thesilverkat) on Instagram who are both rocking some more neutral shades for Autumn. However, if you feel that the usual, classically Autumnal palette isn’t for you, steely greys, smoky bonfire colours, stormy skies, deep nighttime blues, flashes of sky blue on a dull day are my colour alternatives for cooler days.

I thought I would share a few of my Autumnal silver style loves and it would be great to hear yours too - tweet us at @whitehothair , send us a message on Instagram @whitehothair or on Facebook at… you guessed it, White Hot Hair.

So firstly, scarves. A staple in my wardrobe all year round, but I find Autumn really is the perfect time to pull out a thinner, statement scarf to add a little extra something to my ‘winter uniform’ which is often black. I like to add a pop of colour to a neutral or monochrome outfit or perhaps a splash of animal print.

Next up, faded, straight leg jeans. More comfortable and forgiving than skinnies, great with a blazer or slogan tshirt and paired with some uber comfy trainers, I find this is a simple look that is easy to wear, can be dressed up or down and doesn’t feel frumpsville.

Moving onto trainers. I recently fell in love with a pair of yellow sneakers from Brazilian brand Cariuma, full on comfort at first wear (see above). I haven’t fully surrendered to the cold just yet, and choosing a bright colour gives me a last peek of summer before I tug on my black ankle boots until further notice.

Jackets. A fashion favourite I have passed onto my daughter, who equally loves the versatility, impact and feel of a great jacket. Over a tshirt, a thin knit or shirt, I love throwing on a jacket and letting it do all the talking. Zara usually have a good selection.

I think the most important thing when it comes to style is to forget the word ‘style’. Choose what you like, wear whatever makes you feel good, don’t follow any ‘rules’ and to quote Marie Kondo…wear things that ‘spark joy’.
